Demetri Argentum
Name: Demetri Argentum
Age: 30
Magic:
Hekatonkheires – a caster-type magic where the user points and creates magic circles in the air or on surfaces, from which fiery forearms arise. He can control these hands sympathetically, using his own as a guide, or order them to do their own thing. The magic circles themselves can be moved and spun if they're created in the air.
Magic Level:
A
Line Drive – A fist appears from a vertical magic circle in the air, and the magic circle itself then moves forward at high speed. It is essentially a long-range punch, and a combination of speed, mass, and fire make it a pretty strong for a basic attack.
Round of Applause – eight magic circles appear on the ground around a target, and from them rise large, fiery hands in the 'stop' position. They act as a barrier, trapping the target inside, and their fire burns brighter if the hands are attacked.
Grasping Earth – Demetri claps his hands twice, and a huge amount of small magic circles appear all over the ground. Normal-sized hands rise from them, still burning, and become a snaring terrain hazard for any enemies. Should an enemy fall down, the hands in that area will quickly restrain that foe, and then starting punching.
Helios Arc – five magic circles appear in an crescent around Demetri, from which fiery hands emerge. They held their palms all facing in the same direction, and a big fireball forms between them that then launches forward to explode against the first thing it hits.
Asura – four magic circles appear on Demetri's shoulders, two on each, and fiery arms appear from them. They act in tandem with his own arms, and all of them gain increased burn and stopping power.
History:
Born in obscurity to a single mother, Demetri powered his way through a challenging childhood with a confidence that decried his lackluster status. After attending primary and secondary school, he discovered his affinity for fistfighting and the culinary arts, two great tastes that taste great together. He found his way into Frenzy Plant before it actually became a guild, joining his late-teenage strength to its precursor band. When Frenzy Plant officially came to be, he devoted himself to it wholeheartedly, assigning himself the task of getting more people to join. In order to spread the word -and his cooking- he began his restaurant in Oak Town, and after a shaky start it took off.
One of the highlights of his guild life was the point at which his forearms assumed their current state. While on a grueling job with Owen Whately, Bytan Brass, and Nandy Rewman, the Frenzy Plant soldiers were awakened to a great conspiracy occurring beneath Alcalypha Town – the reawakening of the demon tyrant Lord Reidan. As his companions battled fanatical cultists, Demetri duked it out with Reidan himself, who had not yet consumed the cultists' human sacrifice to regain his full power. In order to banish the demon tyrant, Demetri was forced to push him back down into the enchanted lava pit from which he had risen, and hold him beneath the surface, his own arms ablaze with searing agony, until Reidan returned to slumber. When Demetri pulled his forearms from the pit, they had transformed into constructs of fire and rock themselves, with a definitive demonic taint that manifested itself as frightening rage in his more ferocious fights thenafter.
Personality:
Gentle giant, boisterous bruiser, and considerable chef—Demetri is all of these. He's fond of fighting, fond of exercising, fond of socializing, and fond of cooking. It's a feat of some note, in fact, to make him unhappy, but when he does become disgruntled the results are often catastrophic given his great strength and fighting ability. Demetri tries to charm the ladies on occasion, with mixed success, but he has his eyes on Indigo Afina most of all, thinking her to be a true lady, and above fraternizing with a low-born pugilist like himself, and finds her all the more attractive for it. His seemingly only flaws are his sometimes slow intellect and at-times vast pride. The minor demonic influence exerted on his psyche due to the way he acquired his forearms only manifests during intense battle as a strengthening rage, making it more of a help than a hindrance.
Team Members:
Demetri is a member of Team Cut Capers with Xyster and Owen Whately
Three Strengths:
1. Excellent chef – Demetri treats cooking as a culinary art. Given his ability to multitask and his hand-making magic, the speed and skill with which he creates meals is unsurpassed by anyone he's encountered. In fact, he owns a restaurant of his own in Oak Town, which Frenzy Plant members frequent.
2. The Hekatonkheires magic has a variety of applications, but even without creating a whole lot of extra hands to help him, Demetri is a highly-skilled brawler. Incredible ferocity and forearms that are pretty much made of lava make him highly threatening. He is the physically strongest soldier in Frenzy Plent.
3. Easygoing, reliable, and friendly when not in combat, Demetri is close to most if not all of his guildmates, but particularly his team. He knows that they have his back, and he theirs. Their defeat would make him stronger, and the loss of him would empower them.
Three Weaknesses:
1. Demetri's forearms and hands are, after all, pretty much made of lava-infused stone. He doesn't personally get hurt by his own heat, and he can stifle their burning, but if he doesn't pay attention he may accidentally start a fire. It's happened several times, earning him the ire of Indigo Afina.
2. Though by no means stupid, Demetri can be slow to understand things sometimes. He is somewhat gullible.
3. Wanting to assert himself, Demetri sometimes refuses aid from guildmates. This is sometimes problematic for him.
Greatest Love:
People complimenting his food.
Motivation:
To become simultaneously the best warrior and best chef on the continent, and be seriously famous.
Additional Details:
Master Sanders once commented that he didn't think cooking was very manly. That day marked the only time a guild member has ever defeated Sanders in one-on-one combat. Though this technically qualified Demetri to take over as guild master, Sanders described the battle as 'an old man not wanting to hurt one of his dearest underlings who was possessed by a demonic rage'. After becoming lucid, Demetri accepted this judgement, and has since been unable to replicate the feat, even if his favorite hobby is insulted.
